1、确定主题句
主题句是对全文的概括，是文章的主旨。它能在文章中起到“画龙点睛”的作用。通常主题句出现在一篇文章的开头，而后，全文对主题句所提出的内容进行解释，扩展。
写主题句应注意以下几点：
①归纳出你要写的文章的几个要点
②提炼出一句具有概括性的话
③主题句应具有可读性，抓住、吸引阅卷老师。
2、注意篇章结构，合理布局
开始部分(opening paragraph)——说出文中的要点、核心问题。
正文部分(Body paragraphs)——围绕主题开展叙述、讨论。
结尾部分(concluding paragraphs)——对全文的总结和概括。
法国著名短篇小说家契诃夫说过：“写作的技巧不是写作的技巧，而是删掉写得不好的地方的技巧。”要做到全文中心突出、段落之间必须是有机地联系，内容完整、连贯。前后呼应，去除与主题无关的内容。
3、善用实词
专升本英语作文应多用实词，少用虚词。比如在形容一个人很好的时候，不要总用nice这样太过简单空洞的词汇。应尽量多使用一些诸如generous，humorous，interesting，smart，gentle，warm-hearted之类的形容词。善用这些实词会将你的作文等级大大提升。
4、巧妙变换句式
例如：I think that...... 宾语从句，是考生最常使用的句式。如果变换成另一种句式I have a thought that......同位语从句，立刻让人眼前一亮，为作文平添光彩。
还比如：I hear that也是很多考生常用的句式。如果换成It is reported that...... 或者There is a piece of news that 同样的意思，却明显体现出了考生知识运用的差距。后者明显分数会更高。
在批改过上万份同学们英语作文中，经常能发现一些将中文生硬地翻译成英文的表达法。有一句话叫做“立志如山，行道如水”，写英文作文，一定要有决心把它 写好，有信心把意思表达清楚，这是“立志如山”;但关键是遇到问题时要有个灵活的态度，能像流水一样变通解决问题。绕道表达，是写作中应该常常运用的一种方法。
5、巧用连接词
专升本作文中如果长句的连词应用得当，会成为加分的亮点。要想使文章有整体性、连贯性，就要学会正确使用连接词，下面为同学们例举一些常用的词汇：

6、卷面要清爽整洁，尽量不要涂改
卷面整洁的专升本作文分数一般都不会太低，阅卷老师喜好阅读字迹工整的文章，让人看上去舒服的卷面，应尽量减少修改，如果字体优美的话就更占优势了。同学们平常要多写多练，经常誊抄一些英语作文范文美文，这样不仅在考试写作文的时候能信手拈来下笔如有神，日积月累的练习也能写得一手好字。
专升本作文还应坚决杜绝拼写错误的词汇。如果考生有拿不准的单词应尽量替换为熟悉的单词。如果有拼写错误的单词不仅会因此扣分，还会影响整体作文分数的等级。
